Hello Rabbi Rhine,
Does anyone discuss the potential problem that if you make kiddush and havdalah on a day that may not be Shabbos perhaps you are making a bracha levatala (blessing in vain) which is generally a sin to do? Or am I wrong and this is not even a potential problem?
Thanks
Hi Ken,
That is a very good observation. I would suggest that it is a Rabbinic decision similar to second day of Yom Tov, where we recite Brachos because there is a greater purpose. In this case it is just too scary that this person should not have any Shabbos at all.
Best wishes,
RMR
