Why is the Jewish prayer-book called a Siddur?
The Talmud says that you must first be “Misader” (organize) your thoughts and the particular words you will use during prayer, before you pray. This is easy to understand. After all, before any significant speech, you would prepare by organizing your thoughts and choosing just the right words to be most effective. Certainly, before making a speech before Hashem, king of the world, you need to be Misader (organize) your words beforehand. The Siddur serves that purpose of organizing the words appropriately before prayer.
