Kashering- For Pesach and during the year- Source Sheet
Class begins with an explanation of the difference between Hagolah (purging with hot water) and Libun (burning out objectionable taste by an open fire), and describes when each applies.
Topics focused on include:
- Can knives be kashered?
- How does one kasher a pot?
- Items that can be kashered: Wood, Stone, Metal
- Items that cannot be kashered for Pesach: Plastic, Glass
- What should be done with pots that you will not kasher for Pesach use?
- Can an expensive set of china dishes ever be kashered?
Hi Rabbi Rhine,
Can you explain to me the method used for kashering solid stone countertops using an iron? My countertops do not have any seams. I really want to avoid water pouring onto my floor & other places.
Thank you so much!

RMR> You can place warm water in controlled quantities on the counter and iron the water to boiling, one small section at a time. You can create a perimeter for the water on the counters using towels.
Feel free to talk with me if you want more guidance.
Enjoy the kitchen!
